Reflection N° 132 - Ethics of Right and Wrong
There is no ethics of right on one side and ethics of wrong on the other. A soul is unitary though changing as to forms and experiences, and when and if it is coherent with itself, such soul will have an unmovable ethics for the opposites, that is to say, right and wrong. A trader said: “When I should buy, I by. When I should sale, I sale”. This man had ethics of personal benefit, and not behavior as to wrong; he ever transformed it into benefit. We have seen it in the Church with the pedophile priests scandal. The Pope confessed they had been conformists; they had not a behavior in front of their own wrong. Another individual declared his mimetization in front of difficult human relation, leaving behind what he was and transforming himself into another person. He has no ethics.
Moral constitutes rules established by society on individuals according to custom; Moslems practice polygamy, Tibetans polyandry, and modern man free love, sometimes with a civilian contract, other times with no contract. In Argentina, a nation living on the agricultural area, all eat meat, and cattle slaughter brings collective karma, not individual karma. Instead, in India, they do not eat cattle meat. Customs vary as the time passes by, or countries and all recommend respect for cattle because such customs come from deep convictions of the peoples. “If you go Rome, make as you see”. Instead, ethics is the law of the individual, a behavior coming from his (even inborn) convictions, his way of being, and his most intimate beliefs. Moral is the same for different persons living on the same site. Ethics should be unique for every one, but at present, with so many social changes, sudden vogues emerged in business and prevailing influence of communication media, it is hard to find persons responding to social phenomena with their own ethics for right and wrong. We can say that men do not behave according to social moral but by momentary personal convenience. Even they are not guide by an ethics that they do not have, but by surges that, through communication media, are stirring up masses.
Ethics is an inner discipline moving every (inner and outer) step in man, from an strict fulfillment of the word for a meeting, a favor, a purchase, and personal relations with friends and strangers, until to great confrontations and challenges that, from time to time, a man finds himself involved; he is invariable as to his fundamental convictions.
Many members of a spiritual institution, Religion or Order behave during meetings or at a Mass in a way, and by the street in another different way; they have several ethics according to convenience or instincts; it is equal to have no ethics. Two hundred years ago, Saint Paul of the Cross preached it was impossible to live in different ways on the world and in solitude of the individual at the same time. He was a man of one ethics: yes or not. It is important for a man that is responsible for his deeds to have three or four basic ideas that can be obtained from the Teachings and to apply them to daily activities. Stronger men are the simplest, and weakest men are those who have their heads full of entirely useless concepts and prejudices when they have to decide something. They have traveled through several spiritual paths, know sects and religions, apply to diverse social movements, attend to esoteric lectures announced by newspapers, consider themselves experts as to Masters of India and have many ideas, but no consistent ideas. They have neither ethics of right nor ethics of wrong. They are faceless vagabonds.
Those men who have ethics for right and wrong are recognized from far away, in every circumstance, because ethics is visible any time and expressed by simple deeds through conversation and feelings, and by defending their ideas. A man that does not defend his ideas even amid his enemies and great dangers has not behavior ethics. He may have beliefs but not ethics. Ethics is ever expressed, like a face or way of walking; it is the style of every one. It is as a rose in a flower pot, which cannot stop being even by night. It is the rose grown by José Martí for a friend and for an enemy –the rose every white and beautiful.
A man without ethics of right and wrong is like a ball on a football match –being kicked by all, one to one side and others to another. At the end, such ball is left behind anywhere, and passions, disappointments, triumph and failure fade away in the dark.
Ethics of right and wrong neither deal with religious or moral dogmas of societies, nor with politic in the George Bush style, who defined his enemies as the evil axis to be destroyed. He tried it with Iraq and Afganistan, and destroyed two nations, and was defeated in combats; now they are retreating humiliated by a defeat in the hands of the weakest. Sometimes the weakest, when and if their deeds are moved by ethics, are stronger than those powerful people with no ethics. It is not the first time that the result of confrontations, or in war or in peace, is decided rather by a steady behavior than by available cannons.
Right and wrong; happiness and sorrow. A man is continuously pushed from one corner to another, constantly, even when he is asleep, has no defenses and his sensitivity becomes acute and unbearable. As a rule, a man flees from pain, from his wrong at certain moment through many of those crevices he is unable to close, or he opens them to prevent suffering. He plunges into turmoil of drugs, foods, alcohol, sex and other experiences to delete momentarily any sufferings, which later comes again with further intensity for his despair. He has fled once and will flee always until ending up in madness or death.
Right, wrong, happiness and sorrow belong to him; they are not visits coming and going; they are permanent states of the souls that become alternatively conscious according to diverse occasions, some of them by outer events, and others like bubbles coming to the surface from depths of the subconscious, being unaware of how and why. Who did not experience a luminous and full awakening, willing to live, and without previous dreams to explain this beautiful morning? And how many times a phone calls from far away, containing some unbearable bad news overwhelming one for long time, not giving rest until with therapy of the time gradually oblivion and understanding come.
Sorrow and happiness are divine mysteries that none was able to clarify. Gautama, the Buddha, created a spiritual doctrine, Renunciation, to soothe human sorrow by understanding its causes and by an inner attitude to make it more bearable; but the Buddha was unable to overcome sorrow until the final liberation stage. Jesus wished the human liberation by assuming the human pain, but he did not succeed. Following the Mother Idea of the Aryan Race, now Maitreya states every one will achieve happiness by his own means, without intermediaries. The oldest tradition reveals that man will get rid of pain by knowing himself. And the way to such conquest consists of ethics of right and wrong, both of them assumed by a permanent unified attitude. “Join pain so as to overcome it,” ancient Masters said. And the best way to such approach does not consist of modern psychology theories or drugs but of a unitary behavior by applying the ethics of opposites that are in the Renunciation control all the time, not as an achievement at he end of an exercise of meditation, which one has to repeat one and thousand times, but as the result of meditation and permanent practice of detachment. A person that stays detached from the result of his deeds automatically gets his liberation from sorrow and thirst for joy as soon as he fulfills them.
A man that has made of Renunciation a way of living, an style and his true personality, then right and wrong, happiness and sorrow are beyond him, and they pass by, do not give rise to karma, are forgotten, and the soul stays free, prepared for new experiences, because the aim of the New Race is the knowledge of all things –outer and inner, individual and collective. The Master Santiago’s Teachings educate; the Great Initiate Maitreya’s world shall be direct education and, by such education that is integral transformation, to reach liberation. The human species has undergone ignorance since the beginning, and a half-knowledge like in the last times not only produces an irredeemable sorrow but also gives rise to new bonds that sooner or later must be untied by man. Meanwhile this man goes on attached to half-knowledge, one part trying to reach the other part that lacks. After Akhenaton, 3500 years ago, Humanity has fallen in the obscurantism of monotheist religions, the hard law of compulsory fulfillment of dogmas, for farmers and workers that did not know to read or write. They presence every Sunday at Mass or offices in the Temple was enough to achieve the promised salvation. This evolution stage is collapsing before our eyes and won’t be totally collapsed until its entire disappearance so as to start from the foundation,
A relevant feature of the American Race shall be an integral education, not the education known to us at schools and universities, but the education practiced at ancient temples (Please read the Teaching: The Initiation Temple). Like in those days, such education shall start from birth and, if we want to be exact, since before, at a preparatory astral stage, when guides lead the souls to fittest parents, at a chosen place, so as to learn those sciences and develop powers lying within and that must be expressed, clairvoyance, astral journeys, telepathy, energetic healings, control and regulation of the Planet, participation on the mystical body of the new society, the body of fire, and friendship with the Masters dwelling on other dimensions. This Humanity, so divided these days, shall be united by practicing an ethics of right and wrong on diverse planes, plural worlds, and truly it starts going ahead toward its destiny of freedom promised by Great Initiates since the beginning.
